The Painter-Stainers’ Company has a long history closely connected to the development of the City. The Company, comprising fine and decorative artists, received its first Royal Charter from Queen Elizabeth in 1581 and today its energies are directed in the support of education in arts and crafts.

The Fine Art Society and Decorative Crafts Group regularly exhibit and demonstrate the skills which shaped the Company.

Hall Hire

Completed in 1961 Painters’ Hall combines the traditional elegance of a City Livery Hall with all the facilities expected of a modern building. It has three areas for meetings, dinners and other business functions.

Each area has its own elegance and style and varies in capacity. It is the perfect venue for your event, combining unique art and valued heritage with the ideal location.
